It’s All In The Eyes!

I just love the unveiling of Dior’s new eye shadow pallets each season.  For me, it’s much like the introduction of new cars at the State Fair each fall – but much more affordable yet just as much fun in which to play.  This year’s pallet fulfilled my anticipation and, of course, I just had to add it to my every growing eye shadow palette collection.

Spring 2015 Trend Show introduced us to fabrics in soft cool hues blended with subtle warm tones from aquamarine and pale blue to tangerine and marsala with a beautiful array of eye shadows as well.  This pallet (pictured here) will enhance anyone’s wardrobe.  Dior 5 Couleurs Cuir Cannage is this year’s newest addition.  I love their 5-color pallets.  They offer us such versatility in looks we can achieve.  As with the others in Dior’s line there is a central shade which is the signature color of the palette and there are four accessory shades that can be used to create a multi-faceted look for casual daytime and updated for sophisticated evening.

Always start with your favorite eye shadow primer.  It prolongs eye makeup staying power throughout the day, preventing your eye shadow from migrating, and keeping colors even. Dior’s Back Stage Primer is in a cake block and works great however my favorite primer (at the moment) is by NARS which is in a wand/tube.

Primer on.  You now have two main choice looks with this pallet – Natural or Sophisticated.  For a natural look, create a gradation effect using the medium shade on the entire eyelid and the darker shade along the lash line. Next, highlight with the lightest shade beneath the brow arch and in the inner corner of the eye.  And, for a sophisticated look, apply the lightest shade over the entire eyelid. Contrast with the darker shade in the crease and along the lash line to create structure. Finally, apply the medium shade in the outer corner and draw it out to widen the eyes.Your choice of under the lower lashes will add a smoky look to your eyes. Complete the look with your favorite eyeliner and mascara then look in the mirror and smile – at beautiful YOU!

**Special note to those of you who have asked for a Contact Page so you can email me.  I did it!  We can talk here and around the “coffee table’ too.  I have also noticed that many of you are in the United States but I have heard from those of you in Asia, Europe, South America and Canada.  It thrills me that the language of skincare knows no boundaries!  Thank you for taking the time to stop by and read this blog that I call my ‘therapy’… your comments are so kind and so appreciated.
