“Welcome to the new year! May I have your ID and current insurance card?” January is my Healthy Me Month…. Doctors, dentist, etc. My eyes – check! My Well Woman – check! Mammogram – Check and of course, my dermatologist. I do my yearly everything in January always especially when it comes to my skin. By summer I am using my tanning pads and cream and I am not always sure I get a good check because even my dark spots are tanned. So! January it is!
I was looking for a new retinol cream and had a surprise at my visit. Call it Late Christmas or Early Birthday without getting a year older! No longer will I be using the expensive RX previously prescribed by my doctor, but one that is over the counter at my local drug store. Can you believe that? My doctor suggested the switch not only for the fantastic price but! because of the benefits they are seeing. In fact, she is using it as well now – and it shows. So! I am off to Target (but you can get this at Walgreens and CVS, too.)
RoC® RETINOL CORREXION® Deep Wrinkle Night Cream is the wrinkle jewel this time. As I was reviewing this product I see that Allure Magazine has already uncovered this gem as it was an award winner for them last year. If you read the reviews you will, of course, see some negative comments as you always do with retinol. If you don’t use it correctly, yes, your face will become red and flakey, so be careful with this product. Negative comments are all key to the application.
Begin using this cream once every 2 days for 2 weeks and apply about a pea-size . After 2 weeks, use it every other day. After another two weeks go ahead and begin the nightly routine. Product labeling states that after 4 weeks: skin is more radiant; fine lines on face and neck are smoothed; Skin firmness is improved. After 8 weeks crow’s feet are visibly reduced; Signs of photo damage are diminished. After 12 weeks deep wrinkles on face and neck are visibly reduced. I would say that statement is a little ‘hopeful’ in most instances, so don’t give up. Keep this routine and give it more time if you don’t see anything after four weeks. Retinol is your friend and sometimes, friendships take a little longer to form. But! Once formed you will have a friend for life!
