February is now. Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow in the land of Pennsylvania and declared we will have 6 more weeks of winter. Of course ‘winter’ is different in many different states. If you are in Napa California it means rain. And lots of it. If you are in New York or Philadelphia it means snow. And again, lots of it. If you are in New Orleans it means turbulent weather this week. And if you are in Dallas. It’s means cookouts and picnics – until the next cold front comes through. Ahhhh… the roller coaster ride of Texas – called weather. Some months we experience 2-3 seasons all in a 48-hour period.
My resolutions this year were to have lunch with friends I saw too little in 2016. I love my Friend Lunches as know you do. So to date, I’ve had four very special lunches – which may be why I haven’t lost an ounce of weight this year. I mean really? Can you make a resolution to dine with friends and also make a resolution to loose 10 pounds? Not really. So my resolutions this year were not Diet related but all about Beauty.
Mask. There are so many out there. Whether it’s blue, clear, washable or peelable it’s fun to try different masks several times each month. Some hydrate. Some add a glow. Some exfoliate. But they all make your skin feel fantastic when removed. And your skin looks healthy and fabulous!
Moisturize. I cannot emphasize this one enough. Whether you live in rain, snow or sun you need to add moisturizer to you regimen. Every day. Morning and night. Repeat – twice a day. I have a long time friend who told me last year she wanted her skin to look like mine. My suggestion was to start moisturizing. I saw her two weeks ago and she uttered those same words. So, I asked her what moisturizing regimen she was using. “I moisturize each month” usually on the first day so I can remember. If I could use that emoji with eyes wide open and hair standing up right here you would have seen my face at that comment! Moisturize EVERY day… twice! Your skin will love it and you will too
Water/Hair. Jimmy, my hair stylist and color specialist for 20 years, knows when I sit down in his chair if I have been faithful in my consumption of water. Hydration. It’s important to our skin AND our hair so remember to keep the H20 and your favorite glass nearby and drink. Drink throughout the day and evening too. It’s great for your body and your hair.
And finally SLEEP. The recommended hours of sleep is eight, but if you are like me, that just doesn’t happen… unless I am sick. So I shoot for seven, and plan for 6. Some nights I am solving all the world’s problems in my head, so I get something like 4-5 hours, but I’m trying! See? I am a work in progress, too.
