When My Body Speaks

Most mornings my body speaks to me in a positive way upon rising as in “Good Morning!”  Though at times I must admit my back or my shoulders  shout, “Oh wow I ache today. How on earth did you get in that position and actually fall asleep?” But one constant is my neck and décolleté.  They great me each morning in the mirror with “ahhh.”  And I smile – big!

Those smiles are thanks to one of my favorite new products from Nordstrom’s Spring Trend show.  Dr. Dennis Gross Triple C Peptide Firming Oil.  As many of you know I’m a huge fan of Dr. Dennis Gross products and this one didn’t disappoint!

Yes, I know what you are thinking.  The word “oil” can make us cringe when it comes to application anywhere near our face.  To be honest I don’t always apply it to my face.  But, faithfully I apply it to my neck and décolleté area before I go to bed and first thing in the morning, followed by my moisturizer to lock in the oil.

Triple C Peptide Firming Oil helps to lift and firm our skin while providing it with the nutrition it needs to feel comfortable, nourished and revived and dare I say it?  Happy! Triple C Peptide Firming combines three forms of vitamin C with an innovative chain of peptides for smart defense against skin aging. This innovative scientific cocktail harnesses the power of water and lipid-loving molecules in a nutrient rich replenishing oil. Dehydrated, weak skin is quenched, renewed, and fortified—transforming a dull, wrinkled, uneven complexion into a radiant, firm, youthful-looking appearance.

Application is easy! You must shake well then apply 2-3 drops or more if needed morning and night. Gently massage into face, neck and your décolleté.  After I few days your mirror will reflect a new you… and perhaps a few smiles!

Trend Show With Karen

Half the fun of attending Nordstrom’s Trend Show each year is having my shopping diva and good friend, Karen with me!  We have been friends for over 30 years and have shared some memory making times together.  Some of those memories include trend shows, makeup, shopping and lunch.  Others… well you know what they say… “what happens with us – stays with us” and I will leave it at that.  Big smile.

Over the last few week’s I have begun to tell you about several of my favorite new products here at Wrinkle Me Not and I asked Karen to do the same.  So yesterday she surprised me with two reviews of her favorites – so I want to share them with you!

Hi, I am Karen. I would like to tell you about Dr. Dennis Gross Instant Radiance Sun Defense Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 with Sheer Color Correction Technology.  The DDG skin specialist told me I should not leave the show without trying it!  She applied the medium tint and I immediately loved the moisturizing glow with a hint of shimmer on my skin!  I have been wearing this daily for almost a month and have recently applied it before heading to the pool.  With an SPF of 40, it kept me from sunburn while adding the shimmering Glo to my face, neck, and décolleté.  I rarely go outside without makeup (even just to get the mail), and in the past, I have always worn a sunscreen plus a foundation and blush to the pool, which left me feeling a little silly with all of that makeup.  Not anymore!  The Dr. DG Instant Radiance Sun Defense allows me to be SPF protected AND it covers imperfections and blends uneven skin tone.  I am confident wearing only the Dr. DDG Instant Radiance Sun Defense anywhere I go!  You need to try it, Judy.  Be sure and get the right shade for your skin coloring because you want to look a wee bit darker than you are.  I have a feeling I will be using this year around because it blocks those UVs and gives my skin a healthy looking Glo!

Another product I found in my goodie bag from Nordstrom Trend Show is Lancome La Base Pro Pour Eraser.  I have enjoyed many Lancome products for years so when I found two generous samples, I was delighted!  I immediately noticed the soft texture and it feels like silk on my skin!  It actually does minimize and erase pores but also I noticed a huge improvement in my oily T-zone.  Normally I powder my nose several times a day but with the Lancome La Base Pro Pour Eraser, I was surprised to find it covered and kept my skin looking and feeling fresh throughout the day and evening!  I actually like it better than Dior’s Dream Skin!

So there you go!  My two favorite finds from Trend Show but I have so many samples yet to try, I’m sure I will find more treasures and keepers!

Oil For My Face?

Where do I begin?

So many products were unveiled at Trend Show ’17 and of course several were from one of my favorites – Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare.  That brand is never one to disappoint.  Karen and I were comparing notes this week and we both agreed on one favorite – Dr. Dennis Gross Triple C Peptide Firming Oil.

Now you may be like me.  When you hear the word ‘oil’ and think of putting it all over your face and neck – you quiver. But!  I’ve been using this product faithfully for 2 weeks and I can already see a difference in my skin.  If you like a smooth neck – and who doesn’t?  This is definitely a ‘must’ to try.

Triple C Peptide Firming Oil helps to lift and firm your skin while providing it with the nutrition it needs to feel comfortable, nourished and revived.  It’s ideal for anyone experiencing loss of elasticity due to age, stress or environmental factors.  And!  This oil replenishes your skin to make it look and feel younger and plumper.

Now here’s little trick I was shown during the product demonstration.  After applying the firming oil and seeing the amazing difference in your skin, follow it with one of the DDG glow pads.  These two products work beautifully together and make you glow from your décolleté to your forehead.

I apply it in the morning and at night. Shake it well and apply 2-3 drops (or more if needed).  I start at my décolleté and smooth it upward and gently massage it into my skin. (Note: always begin at the décolleté to your forehead… pull that skin UP every chance you get!)

And!  For those of you that shy away from those Alpha Beta Glow Pads that I love, love, love.  Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare has introduced an alternative for those of you that don’t want to look like you have spent a day at the beach or had a picnic in the warm Texas sun.  Alpha Beta Gradual Glow Pad Self-Tanner for Face is now available.  Gradual glow is the key here.  As always you apply the towelette to your face, neck, and décolleté in circular motions, blending evenly.  But! YOU build the glow factor you want by applying it it each day to achieve your desired color.  Then space applications to maintain your ideal glow.

Okay… there’s favorite new products number one… and there’s more to come.

No Needles, Please

Let me be clear. I am NOT a fan of needles.  Not at all!  Yes, I know we all have to deal with the occasional prick from time to time, but I offer my arm only when I have to and nothing more than that.

So, recently I was at Judy Gail’s, my amazing esthetician’s salon in Dallas for my monthly facial.  During the treatment she asked me if I would be her ‘guinea pig’ for about 4 weeks to test a new service she was interested in offering to her clients.  The first question out of my mouth – “are there needles involved?”  She laughed heartily.

The service? Needle-Free Mesotherapy Infusion.  I mean really? Is that a mouthful or what?  So with the word ‘needle-free’ I began to listened.  Eagerly.

Infusion mesotherapy is a pain-free and a needle-free alternative to traditional mesotherapy which provides safe and effective non-invasive trans-dermal delivery of therapeutic solutions. Unlike a serum that nourishes the outer layers of your skin; the mesotherapy infusion goes deeper and nourishes your skin not only from the outside, but also from the inside by opening up a microscopic channel in your skin to achieve the penetration needed to get beneath the outer layers. It’s be around since the 1950’s which it actually involved  – needles!

I actually bring my tried and true skincare products (which I know work well with my skincare regimen) with me and Judy covers my face with the mixture of all products for the treatment.  Note: You must remove all metal jewelry so the only metal left is in my teeth. You hold a metal pole to ‘ground’ you and the process begins. Yes, you do feel a ‘zap’ in your teeth throughout the treatment but it is quite bearable. Trust me on this!

I definitely saw visible results after my second treatment, but you will need 4-6 treatments spaced two weeks apart for the full effect.  Following  that it is recommended to begin maintenance treatments every 6-8 weeks. By the way, at the end of the 6th treatment I noticed my skin had a glow and even better my little sister, Jill, commented at our lunch hours later my skin looked smoother as well.

Love sisters!

No 7 Maybe A 10

Two or three years ago I was on the receiving end of a makeover with a beauty rep from Bobbie Brown and we got into a discussion over beauty products from drug stores such as CVS or Walgreens and he told me that he had several favorites.  I was surprised – I mean VERY surprised – at his comment.  Do drug stores sell really good skincare products?  I continued my discussion with my wonderful hair stylist, Jimmy, a few weeks later and he agreed.  You can find some great skincare if you shop carefully. He advised me to look for the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval because it wasn’t easily given awarded to products. Even more interesting, many department store brands don’t have ‘the seal’ even though they carry a higher price point. So I filed that knowledge until last December.

My friend, Judy, who does amazing skincare therapies such as facials, microderms, etc. for me asked me if I had heard of Boots or No. 7.  “It’s available at Walgreens or CVS and Target.” I stopped to listen behind those amazing lavender infused eye pads. Hmmmm.  Again, filed for future use… after all it was the holidays.  But we now fast forward to a few weeks ago.  “Are you using the No. 7 I mentioned?” Judy asked at my next visit.  “I have many clients using it and they are seeing an amazing difference on their skin”.  So!  I knew then, I needed to check this intel out – for you AND me!

Boots/No.7 Skincare has been around for years.  It’s from the UK and has gotten rave reviews. In fact seven of their products in the skincare line have – yes, The Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval!  So I purchased two of the products – Lift and Luminate and the Youthful Replenishing Facial Oil – which, yes, have the Seal from Good Housekeeping.  I have several friends now using it and and I must say, this is an excellent product. My skin is smoother.  Hydrated.  Plus! It’s got a great price point since it has been around so long, but don’t think ‘cheap’.

Another thing, too.  I purchased mine at Walgreens initially, but have seen it at CVS and Target.  These stores do many sales as you know and I actually got to do a BOGO last week so I got THREE for the price of two!  It doesn’t take a lot of product either so a little goes a long way.  In one week I began to see many of those small lines start to fade away.

Check their site out and see what interests you. So many products are available. There is even a mens skincare line, too. Of course you have to talk your man into using it daily – twice daily. That may prove to be a little more difficult. But! finding Boots No. 7 is not.

My Wish List

Have you started making your Wish List for Santa, yet?  There are so many products on the market these days that I want, I want… but price points can make it a WISH at times for me instead of a NEED.  Besides this is the season to give, so I make a Wish List and refer to it from time to time. And! when I have that “all about me moment’ I splurge on something on my Wish list. And, when I attend beauty events that list becomes even longer of products I want to try.  Trend shows do that to me as well.

One ‘wish/wants’ at the top of my list a few years ago was my Sonic Makeup Brush by Michael Todd.  The brush is designed for any facial sculpting, highlighting or even applying your makeup.  The results are ahhhmazing.  You can place a couple of drops of your foundation onto the brush or your face and begin your application over your entire face.  And!  I use the brush to also apply my liquid bronzer to add a touch of glow to my face – after all it is the holiday season, right?  Actually you know me… I love the look of the glow all year long!

Another favorite of mine this year is what everyone calls “the BLUE mask” by Dr. Dennis Gross.  Talk about hydration!  You will love the coolness of the mask.  And! you will love the look of your skin after you remove it. This mask was developed to deeply hydrate, cool, and visibly plump the skin.  It’s a two-step process like many of his products and what can I say?  Blue goes with everything… especially your pj’s and a cup of hot cocoa on these cold winter nights. Hyaluronic Marine Hydrating Modeling Mask – it’s a must for your list and mine!

Another favorite from this year is the company, Patchology!  They have masks for your face, your eyes, your feet and your lips.  These products are amazing and they work instantly!  If you order from their site you get samples of their other products, too.  Try them all.  You won’t be disappointed.

Now, you can thank me as you sit in front of the fireplace and toast me and your beautiful glowing skin – Walt Sierra Mar Pinot Noir, please.  And maybe a bite of chocolate?

Labor Day Beauty

You know how when you are introduced to a new product it opens the door to others that are available from that line  as well.  That’s how it is for me with skin care products.  Which is why I looked at the Charcoal Detox  Deep Pore Gel Cleanser by Michael Todd.

Besides the obvious firming effects you will feel on your cleansed face, this cleanser melts away my makeup, dissolves impurities and completely washes away residue without drying out or stripping away at the skin’s natural moisture balance. Plus, the activated charcoal acts like a magnet and penetrates deeply into pores to gently draw out impurities, resulting in a refreshing sensation and clean, smooth, supple skin. It’s my new favorite cleanser.

It’s Labor Day weekend and so many of you have asked about the Sonic Makeup Brush I discussed in a previous post… well, here’s some good news.  The Michael Todd Beauty site is 35% off all Labor Day weekend and that includes my favorite makeup brush.  And! With a $50 purchase and this code MY35LD you get free shipping.

Want another beauty deal?  Dr. Dennis Gross is offering 20%off on his site for all DDG products and no code is needed! Yes, I have my DDG Alpha Beta Extra Strength Peel Pads and my DDG Glow Pads for Face and Body.  Do you?
