Super Hero of Skincare

Super heroes are everywhere these days.  One of my students keeps telling me each day he is Captain America – he’s 4 years old, so what can I say?  He may be!

Personally I am a Wonder Woman fan – bet you thought I’d say Batman, huh?  I mean, Bruce Wayne is a cutie especially in those great glasses of his, but oh! to be Wonder Woman!  My list of errands is always very long.  I run around the Dallas area on my days off all day long.  If I was Wonder Woman I might get everything done in a timely manner and have a great looking outfit with no wrinkles (not to mention that fabulous figure!)

Visiting the Fall Trend show at Nordstrom a few weeks ago I discovered “The Super Hero of Skincare” thanks to Enrique Starnes-Ortega with Dr. Dennis Gross.  With a guarantee that three (3) minutes of use a day keeps the wrinkles away! And! I think I might have found another great product I love from Dr. Dennis Gross!

DRx SpectraLite EyeCare Pro or as I refer to it – my lighted goggles.  You know – like the super heroes wear! After about 2-3 weeks of use you can show off the look of rested, revived, youthful eyes in just 3 minutes a day! It’s hands-free and features 72 LEDs. SpectraLite™ showcases a full spectrum of therapeutic light, bringing professional light therapy to your home in a next-generation, universal-fit model.

Dr. Gross transfers the power of his in-office LED treatments into his latest FDA CLEARED light therapy eye device for at-home use. It’s proven to build collagen and reduce fine lines and wrinkles and this targeted treatment smooths and firms the eye area for long term benefits.

SpectraLite™ penetrates deep within the dermis of your skin, stimulating collagen production to improve skin density and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. You will start to see facial changes around your eye in as early as 2 weeks and I am right there now and seeing it for myself.

This is the future of your eyes, and it’s looking bright. Be your own Super Hero and for only three minutes a day, YOU can keep the bad guys (wrinkles around your eyes) away!

Fall Trend Show is Coming!

I had to make a quick visit to Nordstrom today and get a new foundation.  Surprise. Surprise!  It’s Triple Points until Sunday so it’s a great time to stock up on your favorite beauty products.

Second surprise is next week is Fall Trend Week!  I made my appointment on Friday for a Dr. Dennis Gross facial at 10 followed by a makeup session at YSL at 11:00.  I cannot wait to see the new fall fashions and beauty products for the season and of course the holidays.

I must say it’s 92 degrees in Dallas today and it will be the same for the next three days… but fall is coming – at least that’s what the weatherman says!

If you are in the Dallas area and would like to get your tickets for Trend Show next Saturday or would like to schedule an appointment, you can contact Gilda or Melissa Beauty Stylists at Northpark Dallas.  Their number is 214-231-3900, ext 1096.

Flawless

Flawless.  I see many comments when one changes their Facebook profile photo such as this.  I actually saw it on mine recently.  My reply to my friend was ‘don’t zoom!’  It wasn’t a flawless picture for sure, but I will say it took more time to create the ‘look’ than I spend most days.

My little sister, Jill, and I were talking and watching Hoda and Kathie Lee one morning recently. Their skin looked flawless and I commented we can do that if we take the time!  To prove my point I got all of my ‘flawless making’ products out and spread them out on my countertop.  Do I use all of these every day?  Heaven’s no!  I don’t have the time!  But watching Kathie Lee (It was her birthday, so of course for extra measure she appeared flawless!)

To be flawless you must first have great skincare that you use every day. And! I mean every day! That in itself will get you on the road to flawless.   After you have applied all of you skincare add your primer to your entire face and then touch up those spots that need a little bit more smoothing.  Don’t worry – we all have them!  I found a great video from Sephora on an email that will get you going in the direction to flawless.  From there you can see many of them on Youtube and if you want to be entertained as well, check out Monique Parent.  She is not only fun to watch, but she has some great tips as you watch her go from fresh face to flawless.

But!  In saying all of this, you will need some clock time.  Most of these videos are about 25 minutes and you should expect to spend at least that amount of time as well.  But!  I must add for a special occasion – do it! Then quickly grab a camera, because if you are like me flawless is fun to do, but not on a work morning! Let me know what you think and send me your pics!

Just have fun.  Smile.  And keep putting on lipstick. – Hot Beauty Health

I Am Not The Lone Ranger

When I was a little girl I loved to play dress up and do some role playing.  As I got into my young teenage years my sister, Jill, would join me with hairbrush in hand like we were on stage singing with a rock band.  We still laugh about that occasionally over our weekly coffees.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited

to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world,

and all there ever will be to know and understand.” Albert Einstein

When children participate in role playing, they naturally become someone or something else. role playing stimulates their imagination and “enhances their social development, by encouraging friendship through mutual cooperation, listening and turn taking”. Therefore, role play is a really vital activity for our children.

I was thinking about this recently since I have added a sleep mask to my bedtime routine.  Do I think I am the Lone Ranger? I would emphatically say ‘no’ to that question.  And, so far, I have not dreamed of riding my horse alongside him or Tonto either. But! there is always tomorrow night!

My mask is actually a copper-infused sleep mask that covers eyes with advanced care to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as you sleep Iluminage.

This sleep mask covers your delicate eyes during sleeping hours with advanced care to minimize the appearance of wrinkles. Beyond blocking all visual stimuli to quiet your mind and senses, this silky, soft, smart textile is carefully embedded with copper oxide technology, derived from a well-known essential mineral. This technology is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles for smoother, younger-looking skin. Placing it on your eye area following your night time treatment routines is also a key.

I must say I absolutely love this mask. It’s so soft and silky that it really does help me fall asleep sooner. I do not know if the copper actually assists with anti aging, but I do know as far as sleep goes, this mask is great!

When My Body Speaks

Most mornings my body speaks to me in a positive way upon rising as in “Good Morning!”  Though at times I must admit my back or my shoulders  shout, “Oh wow I ache today. How on earth did you get in that position and actually fall asleep?” But one constant is my neck and décolleté.  They great me each morning in the mirror with “ahhh.”  And I smile – big!

Those smiles are thanks to one of my favorite new products from Nordstrom’s Spring Trend show.  Dr. Dennis Gross Triple C Peptide Firming Oil.  As many of you know I’m a huge fan of Dr. Dennis Gross products and this one didn’t disappoint!

Yes, I know what you are thinking.  The word “oil” can make us cringe when it comes to application anywhere near our face.  To be honest I don’t always apply it to my face.  But, faithfully I apply it to my neck and décolleté area before I go to bed and first thing in the morning, followed by my moisturizer to lock in the oil.

Triple C Peptide Firming Oil helps to lift and firm our skin while providing it with the nutrition it needs to feel comfortable, nourished and revived and dare I say it?  Happy! Triple C Peptide Firming combines three forms of vitamin C with an innovative chain of peptides for smart defense against skin aging. This innovative scientific cocktail harnesses the power of water and lipid-loving molecules in a nutrient rich replenishing oil. Dehydrated, weak skin is quenched, renewed, and fortified—transforming a dull, wrinkled, uneven complexion into a radiant, firm, youthful-looking appearance.

Application is easy! You must shake well then apply 2-3 drops or more if needed morning and night. Gently massage into face, neck and your décolleté.  After I few days your mirror will reflect a new you… and perhaps a few smiles!

High School Friendships

Question. How many of you attend an occasional get together with friends from high school?

I must say that I am blessed, truly blessed, with an abundance of friends and many of them are from high school.  We get together often for lunches, dinners, and celebrations of birthdays. Or just because.

My graduation class had over 1000 people in it.  So! I must also admit though I didn’t know everyone in my class, with the many gatherings we have had over the years plus the addition of social media I have met many more.   Some of these friends are lifelong friends while others are what I call “new” old friends, but each are very special to me.

We have had several gatherings over the last two weeks because one of our classmates is visiting from California. So there has been lots of activities – lunches, dinners and late nights. It’s been a whirlwind for many of us.

And then a phone call.  One of my friends was in a dilemma. Her face was breaking out with a rash of some kind with the unknown culprit most likely being late nights, working days, and extra fun.  So I dug through my Beauty Bag and put my ‘healing hands’ on Patchology’s SmartMud No Mess Detox Masque.

It was a true healer!

This masque is a detoxifying mud sheet masque that purifies your skin without leaving any pore-clogging (or sink-clogging) debris behind. It minimizes skin’s impurities and maximizes your glow game. It will also tighten your pores so they are less visible for smoother, healthy-looking skin.

This masque comes in two pieces (one for upper face and one for lower) and can be used once a week or as often as needed.  Just unfold both sections of the masque; Remove the white backing and place the mud mask over face. Once the masque is removed you see nothing but healthy, youthful glowing skin. It’s a total toxin eliminator for sure.

I saw her the following day at another dinner and she was excited to show off her beautiful skin. The rash was gone and she was ready for another night of friendship!

Smile.  And live for the moments you can’t put into words. – Inspirational Quotes.

Red Red Wine

Beautiful Napa Valley California.  The Wine Country.  It’s been my ‘home’ for one week each summer for the last seven years.  I love the study of wine as much as I do skincare.  As soon as I arrive I immerse myself into the viticulture life of the region and everything that surrounds it.  It’s my “ahhhh” moment that lasts throughout the day and every day I am there.

We have some good friends that were there the week ahead of us and they texted us saying “it’s been in the 100s all week!”  Of course being from Texas we all acclimate to that type of weather easily.  Plus knowing the grapes love it because the nights also drop down into the 50’s it makes for some delicious wine!  But you must pack accordingly and that includes my skincare.  Fortunately the heat surge was over when we arrived and temps stayed in the 80’s the whole week, but my skincare plan didn’t change.  Those days are sun-filled and humidity is low which is hard on our skin.

My plan of using my really cute wide brimmed hat which I had purchased with Karen for the trip didn’t work out because there was a constant breeze the whole time and it wouldn’t stay on my head so I opted for my wide brimmed visor. Not my first choice but much better than going ‘naked’.

I used my Patchology FlashMasque Exfoliate Facial Sheets a few days before we left so as not to exposed my new tender skin to the sun’s rays on our first day and after that I used my FlashMasque 5 Minute Facial Sheets: Hydrate a couple of days while in the Wine Country.

To use: Exfoliate FlashMasque 5-Minute Facial Sheets should be used once a week for optimal skin health and new cell turnover. Put them on before makeup or at night.
Step 1: Unfold the masque and apply to clean, dry skin.
Step 2: Place over your entire face, pressing the material snuggly into facial contours.
Step 3: Leave on for 5 minutes (or longer if desired). It’s a great look… think Jim Carey and The Mask.  Just don’t take yourself seriously and do anything weird like he did!
Step 4: Remove the masque. No need to rinse. The serum will fully absorb into skin. Follow with your normal skin care regimen.

It is easier to use than all of my face masks since I don’t have to wash it off after and it actually takes care of the serum part of my skincare!  Then I switched to Patchology FlashMasque 5 Minute Facial Sheets: Hydrate – This mask replenishes your skin with essential ingredients hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5. You’ll look dewy every day with these.  These are amazing! My skin was plumper, bags under my eyes filled, fine lines gone!

I also used my Patchology Eye Gels each morning and my skincare needs were almost covered!  Two additional skincare products – Dr. Dennis Gross Instant Radiance Sun Defense Medium-Deep (SPF40) and Capture Totale Dream Skin Cushion (SPF50) covered the rest of my needs plus a little mascara!

After that I just enjoyed the week knowing my skincare needs were met and all I had to do was relax, eat some amazing food and well… drink wine – red please!

What is the definition of a good wine? It should start and end with a smile. Pintrest
