Oil For My Face?

Where do I begin?

So many products were unveiled at Trend Show ’17 and of course several were from one of my favorites – Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare.  That brand is never one to disappoint.  Karen and I were comparing notes this week and we both agreed on one favorite – Dr. Dennis Gross Triple C Peptide Firming Oil.

Now you may be like me.  When you hear the word ‘oil’ and think of putting it all over your face and neck – you quiver. But!  I’ve been using this product faithfully for 2 weeks and I can already see a difference in my skin.  If you like a smooth neck – and who doesn’t?  This is definitely a ‘must’ to try.

Triple C Peptide Firming Oil helps to lift and firm your skin while providing it with the nutrition it needs to feel comfortable, nourished and revived.  It’s ideal for anyone experiencing loss of elasticity due to age, stress or environmental factors.  And!  This oil replenishes your skin to make it look and feel younger and plumper.

Now here’s little trick I was shown during the product demonstration.  After applying the firming oil and seeing the amazing difference in your skin, follow it with one of the DDG glow pads.  These two products work beautifully together and make you glow from your décolleté to your forehead.

I apply it in the morning and at night. Shake it well and apply 2-3 drops (or more if needed).  I start at my décolleté and smooth it upward and gently massage it into my skin. (Note: always begin at the décolleté to your forehead… pull that skin UP every chance you get!)

And!  For those of you that shy away from those Alpha Beta Glow Pads that I love, love, love.  Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare has introduced an alternative for those of you that don’t want to look like you have spent a day at the beach or had a picnic in the warm Texas sun.  Alpha Beta Gradual Glow Pad Self-Tanner for Face is now available.  Gradual glow is the key here.  As always you apply the towelette to your face, neck, and décolleté in circular motions, blending evenly.  But! YOU build the glow factor you want by applying it it each day to achieve your desired color.  Then space applications to maintain your ideal glow.

Okay… there’s favorite new products number one… and there’s more to come.

Labor Day Beauty

You know how when you are introduced to a new product it opens the door to others that are available from that line  as well.  That’s how it is for me with skin care products.  Which is why I looked at the Charcoal Detox  Deep Pore Gel Cleanser by Michael Todd.

Besides the obvious firming effects you will feel on your cleansed face, this cleanser melts away my makeup, dissolves impurities and completely washes away residue without drying out or stripping away at the skin’s natural moisture balance. Plus, the activated charcoal acts like a magnet and penetrates deeply into pores to gently draw out impurities, resulting in a refreshing sensation and clean, smooth, supple skin. It’s my new favorite cleanser.

It’s Labor Day weekend and so many of you have asked about the Sonic Makeup Brush I discussed in a previous post… well, here’s some good news.  The Michael Todd Beauty site is 35% off all Labor Day weekend and that includes my favorite makeup brush.  And! With a $50 purchase and this code MY35LD you get free shipping.

Want another beauty deal?  Dr. Dennis Gross is offering 20%off on his site for all DDG products and no code is needed! Yes, I have my DDG Alpha Beta Extra Strength Peel Pads and my DDG Glow Pads for Face and Body.  Do you?

I Love Summertime!

Anyone who sees me thinks I am a sun worshiper.  I love to glow! But!  Anyone who knows me – really knows me – will tell you I glow by products alone.  I used to love the sun… even owned my own sun lamp in my twenties and when tanning beds became the rave – I was a regular with a membership!

After a fews years into that routine, came the sunless tanning products became available. I became a huge fan and have never have looked back.  I can achieve what I want with products like Dr. Dennis Gross Glow Pads or visit my friend, Claudia (#glowbyclaudia), and she will airbrush a beautiful tan with a color determined by the seasons.  I still love the sun and do try to get about 15 minutes of Vitamin D sunrays often but if I head to the pool, I use sunscreen.

Unfortunately what we have done in the past can and usually will catch up with us which I learned at a recent visit to my dermatologist for my yearly checkup.  There were two questionable spots so my doctor removed them.  They were small and if left alone could grow into something I don’t want.  Easy removal and I can still get into the pool, but must stay away from ocean water and lake water for 2 weeks.  Easy for me to do.

There are so many wonderful products on the market that protect us these days.  Even my Dark Spot Sun Defense by Dr. Dennis Gross has an SPF 50.  Many of our foundation products contain SPF as well.  These products are all infused to help keep sun damage away because as we know sun damage can and will cause  wrinkles, which is NOT what we want at Wrinkle Me Not right?

And!  When I visit with one of my estheticians for a facial this week, Judy (#jgailsdermasolutions) will apply a sunscreen to my face and lips before I leave her spa.

So be wise when it comes to our love of the sun.  Cover your skin with sunscreen and reapply often.

Be wise and enjoy the sun!  Afterall, it IS summertime!

Tan Yourself Your Way

Looking at the thermometer it’s a warm, toasty, 100 degrees here in Texas.  I love summer!  A good friend just returned from vacationing at some fabulous beach in the Caribbean and I was able to view some pictures of  the beautiful scenery the area has to offer.  Oh! how I wish I could have been there too, relaxing on those white sand beaches with a big ol’ red straw hat and a cool drink in my hand!  We can’t all visit the beaches this summer. (Oh, did I mention I went to San Diego last month and put my toe in 64 degree Pacific waves??) However,  there are little things we can do to get the ‘beach glow’ and keep our skin protected and safe from the damages of harsh sunlight and itsUV rays that age our skin so dramatically.

One of my daughters is a fan of Jergen’s Natural Glow, 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer, in Medium to Tan.  She uses it all over her body and faithfully every night on her legs.  I have tried it, as well, and must say it really does work in three days!  There is also a lighter version of this moisturizer, too, available in fair to medium.

Or, you might like the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta® Daily Glow Moisture that she uses on her face.  This product produces a natural ‘glow’ in about 1 to 3 hours.  It’s her daily moisturizer so her face has a natural tan she can maintain all summer.

For me, I am a big fan of the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads for the body and face.  The pads are the only exfoliating and anti-aging self-tanner with active Vitamin D that firms your skin, too.  Nice, right?  After application I will normally see the ‘tan’ develop about two hours.

Now, if you get the call for an event or dinner and you need to have an instant ‘glow’ my go-to is St. Tropez.  I have used this product as an at home self-tanner and in its professional form as an instant glow airbrush aan which is offered at Nordstrom in their spa.  There is  no yellow undertones with this product – only bronze to brown. I find it lasts about 5-7 days and then it is pretty much gone.  The key to keeping your tan ‘fresh’ for as long as possible with these products is your skin must be moisturized daily. (That’s a given for our whole body, is it not?)

Now, perhaps you want to just use makeup to change your coloring for the day. Using a slightly darker foundation will add a “sun kissed” look when coupled with bronzing powder and lighter blush.  Be sure and lighten your lipstick, too.  This before and after picture might give you a visual of what just changing your foundation to a darker shade can do.  Here is an example of darker foundation, heavier on eye makeup and, of course, lighter lipstick and blush.  When the day is over, I just wash the ‘tan’ down the drain and start over the next morning.

If you love the sun, but like me, not what it can do to your skin, try one of these suggestions and finish these hot summer months looking like you have spent time on the beach – when actually you have been shopping some of those fantastic sales that started after the 4th of July.  It’s the season to  GLOW my friends… make sure it’s inside and out!

Glow and Celebrate

Memorial Day… a day we stop and remember those who died while serving in our United States Armed Forces.  Many will be visiting area cemeteries, attending events or spending time with friends and family.  And many with be soaking up the first rays of the summer sun as it’s traditionally seen as the start of the summer season, too.

Growing up in Dallas I have worshiped the Texas sun since I was a child, but as I have gotten older I limit my time in the sun to about 30 minutes each day.  I want just enough sun to get the Vitamin D infusion that we all need without the addition of wrinkles we now know the sun can cause. Did you know that your skin has the ability to manufacture as much as 10,000 IU of Vitamin D after 20-30 minutes of summer sun exposure?  I have learned to go for the glow factor in other ways, as you have read in my previous posts.  There are many alternatives to the sun, so I continue to try various products.  Several have some good features and many have bad… like orange skin!  I am still of huge fan of air brush tanning.  It will last about 10 days, fades naturally and it’s the one true way to get tanned head to toe with no ‘missed areas.’  Also, the Dr. Dennis Gross Glow Pads are a mainstay in my beauty bag year round and they are a great touch up before the next visit to my esthetician’s office.  But!  On a recent trip to my dermatologist I noticed they were selling St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse.  It is dermatologist recommended so, of course, I had to check it out.

St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse is a very lightweight mousse that delivers an instant bronze glow that dries in about 60 seconds and after 4-8 hours, develops into a long-lasting tan.  It also delivers a perfectly natural looking, streak-free tan that fades evenly, too.  It goes on with a greenish brown color – not really attractive, but it’s colored so you can see that it goes on evenly. You will need the mitt or use latex gloves for the application.  What’s very cool is that you see the color begin to develop immediately and it gets darker as the day goes on (and the green goes away once it’s dry).  Once you rinse off the product (wait 4 hours, at least) you will have a beautiful glowing tan… and most importantly – no orange!  On a side note, this product is an Allure Readers’ Choice Award winner for the second year in a row, so it shows lots of people are loving this stuff!  It comes in three sizes and it is available at Nordstrom and Sephora.

So celebrate those that have given the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom we enjoy each and every day as Americans, and get your glow on so you can be one of those shining stars this weekend!
