Hey There Bright Eyes!

Watching the news for 30 minutes is tough these days.  Not only is the news sad and discouraging, so are the all ads!  The evening news is the worst as we hear everything that could or will go wrong with our bodies as we age.  Depressing!

But there is a BRIGHT spot.  When it comes to skincare we are winners!

As we all know developing eyelid wrinkles is common as we age.  And!  As in anything else we do genetics can also play a role in developing our wrinkles especially on our face and around our eyes. Ugh!

I am so thankful we have such wonderful skincare available to us to help lessen the effects of what I call ‘creases’ in our skin.  I never liked the word wrinkles.  When I was a teenager I had to do a lot of ironing for my mom and I always envisioned I was removing wrinkles in the pillow cases! Creases were on our face!  Oh those were the days!

Modifying lifestyle factors, such as exposure to cigarette smoke and harmful sun rays, reduce our risk for developing these creases. Of course, the decreased production of natural oil in our skin as we age makes the eyelid skin appear more wrinkled. Repeating facial expressions around the eyes also leaves fine lines and wrinkles. As a result, skin loses flexibility and has a difficult time returning to its place.

It’s time to rethink certain habits, such as always drinking with a straw (wrinkles around the mouth) or squinting because you forgot your sunglasses (crow’s feet). The skin around your eyes is thin and delicate, making it more prone to those awful creases!  Try to avoid pulling, tugging or stretching that skin each night and choose makeup products that go on and come off easily. As a contact lens wearer I have learned to be cautious not to tug too hard on my eyelid skin when putting in my lenses as well.

“When your eyes look younger, your entire face appears more youthful”. That is the tag line Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare has attached to their new eye cream and serum and honestly I have to agree totally.  C+Collagen Brighten + Firm Eye Cream and Serum.  The super hero eye duo!

I picked up these jewels at the Trend Show last month with Karen and I must say this energizing eye cream which is infused with vitamin C complex dramatically improves the look of tired, aging eyes. It instantly works on fine lines and eye creases and brightens dark circles. I use it after my Alpha Beta Peel Pads and Glow Pads when my skin is clean and ready for treatments.

I apply it in the morning and at night. This super duo can be used around the eye in the orbital area too.  I would suggest however doing the whole eye at night and then under eye only in the morning. When I applied the cream over the whole eye in the morning it did affect my eye makeup.  So just a word of caution if you wear eye makeup like me, use this at night only! Then you can wake up and be amazed at the transformation in your… uh creases – or lack of!

As a side note – Jimmy recently told me about a really cool Beauty App from Sephora.  You can do virtual makeovers and when you find one you like, click on the products and put them in your cart!  I went to Sephora and had the Beauty Stylist apply the products on me and wow! I love this cool way to shop! Great idea Sephora! ** (Then quickly grab your phone and take a selfie while you look fabulous!)

Oil For My Face?

Where do I begin?

So many products were unveiled at Trend Show ’17 and of course several were from one of my favorites – Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare.  That brand is never one to disappoint.  Karen and I were comparing notes this week and we both agreed on one favorite – Dr. Dennis Gross Triple C Peptide Firming Oil.

Now you may be like me.  When you hear the word ‘oil’ and think of putting it all over your face and neck – you quiver. But!  I’ve been using this product faithfully for 2 weeks and I can already see a difference in my skin.  If you like a smooth neck – and who doesn’t?  This is definitely a ‘must’ to try.

Triple C Peptide Firming Oil helps to lift and firm your skin while providing it with the nutrition it needs to feel comfortable, nourished and revived.  It’s ideal for anyone experiencing loss of elasticity due to age, stress or environmental factors.  And!  This oil replenishes your skin to make it look and feel younger and plumper.

Now here’s little trick I was shown during the product demonstration.  After applying the firming oil and seeing the amazing difference in your skin, follow it with one of the DDG glow pads.  These two products work beautifully together and make you glow from your décolleté to your forehead.

I apply it in the morning and at night. Shake it well and apply 2-3 drops (or more if needed).  I start at my décolleté and smooth it upward and gently massage it into my skin. (Note: always begin at the décolleté to your forehead… pull that skin UP every chance you get!)

And!  For those of you that shy away from those Alpha Beta Glow Pads that I love, love, love.  Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare has introduced an alternative for those of you that don’t want to look like you have spent a day at the beach or had a picnic in the warm Texas sun.  Alpha Beta Gradual Glow Pad Self-Tanner for Face is now available.  Gradual glow is the key here.  As always you apply the towelette to your face, neck, and décolleté in circular motions, blending evenly.  But! YOU build the glow factor you want by applying it it each day to achieve your desired color.  Then space applications to maintain your ideal glow.

Okay… there’s favorite new products number one… and there’s more to come.

My Wish List

Have you started making your Wish List for Santa, yet?  There are so many products on the market these days that I want, I want… but price points can make it a WISH at times for me instead of a NEED.  Besides this is the season to give, so I make a Wish List and refer to it from time to time. And! when I have that “all about me moment’ I splurge on something on my Wish list. And, when I attend beauty events that list becomes even longer of products I want to try.  Trend shows do that to me as well.

One ‘wish/wants’ at the top of my list a few years ago was my Sonic Makeup Brush by Michael Todd.  The brush is designed for any facial sculpting, highlighting or even applying your makeup.  The results are ahhhmazing.  You can place a couple of drops of your foundation onto the brush or your face and begin your application over your entire face.  And!  I use the brush to also apply my liquid bronzer to add a touch of glow to my face – after all it is the holiday season, right?  Actually you know me… I love the look of the glow all year long!

Another favorite of mine this year is what everyone calls “the BLUE mask” by Dr. Dennis Gross.  Talk about hydration!  You will love the coolness of the mask.  And! you will love the look of your skin after you remove it. This mask was developed to deeply hydrate, cool, and visibly plump the skin.  It’s a two-step process like many of his products and what can I say?  Blue goes with everything… especially your pj’s and a cup of hot cocoa on these cold winter nights. Hyaluronic Marine Hydrating Modeling Mask – it’s a must for your list and mine!

Another favorite from this year is the company, Patchology!  They have masks for your face, your eyes, your feet and your lips.  These products are amazing and they work instantly!  If you order from their site you get samples of their other products, too.  Try them all.  You won’t be disappointed.

Now, you can thank me as you sit in front of the fireplace and toast me and your beautiful glowing skin – Walt Sierra Mar Pinot Noir, please.  And maybe a bite of chocolate?

I Love Summertime!

Anyone who sees me thinks I am a sun worshiper.  I love to glow! But!  Anyone who knows me – really knows me – will tell you I glow by products alone.  I used to love the sun… even owned my own sun lamp in my twenties and when tanning beds became the rave – I was a regular with a membership!

After a fews years into that routine, came the sunless tanning products became available. I became a huge fan and have never have looked back.  I can achieve what I want with products like Dr. Dennis Gross Glow Pads or visit my friend, Claudia (#glowbyclaudia), and she will airbrush a beautiful tan with a color determined by the seasons.  I still love the sun and do try to get about 15 minutes of Vitamin D sunrays often but if I head to the pool, I use sunscreen.

Unfortunately what we have done in the past can and usually will catch up with us which I learned at a recent visit to my dermatologist for my yearly checkup.  There were two questionable spots so my doctor removed them.  They were small and if left alone could grow into something I don’t want.  Easy removal and I can still get into the pool, but must stay away from ocean water and lake water for 2 weeks.  Easy for me to do.

There are so many wonderful products on the market that protect us these days.  Even my Dark Spot Sun Defense by Dr. Dennis Gross has an SPF 50.  Many of our foundation products contain SPF as well.  These products are all infused to help keep sun damage away because as we know sun damage can and will cause  wrinkles, which is NOT what we want at Wrinkle Me Not right?

And!  When I visit with one of my estheticians for a facial this week, Judy (#jgailsdermasolutions) will apply a sunscreen to my face and lips before I leave her spa.

So be wise when it comes to our love of the sun.  Cover your skin with sunscreen and reapply often.

Be wise and enjoy the sun!  Afterall, it IS summertime!

Do You Love Your Neck Cream?

I hope you enjoyed reading “A Thing Called ‘Neck Neglect’ And How We Can Stop It” by Carrie Gross (CEO, President and Co-Founder of Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare) here at Wrinkle Me Not.  I know I did!  I so appreciate Carrie sharing her time with us here at our virtual coffee table’ where we gather to discuss our favorite products in our beauty bags.

I met Carrie at Nordstrom in Dallas last fall when my friend, Diane, and I attended a very informative and quite entertaining Master Class with her as the presenter. It was in that class that she gave us a sneak peek of some upcoming products for 2016 with Ferulic Retinol Fortifying Neck Emulsion being one of them.  I received a nice sample that day and immediately pre-ordered the cream as well.  Three months later I must say – I love this cream!  What a difference it has made in my neck.  Those awful tiny lines have been eliminated and the smoothness of my neck and my décolleté are simply amazing.

If you are looking for a ‘change’ when it comes to your neck area that doesn’t include needles… look no further than this product.  It does the trick and has great price points.  I use it day and night for maximum results. Smooth the cream on and also apply it in an upward motion.  (Never go downward as that is unfortunately what gravity does to us on a daily basis!)

Love you neck!

A Thing Called ‘Neck Neglect’ And How We Can Stop It

A Thing Called ‘Neck Neglect’ And How We Can Stop It

By CEO & Co-Founder Carrie Gross, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare

(Guest writer for Wrinkle Me Not)

Your neck can give away your true age in a second.

For women like me, we are so focused on preventing and smoothing out the wrinkles and signs of aging on our faces that we disregard our neck area, because more often than not, we feel helpless against gravity!

It’s something I call ‘neck neglect’. I see the same concern with many women I know and meet: youthful-looking, radiant, gorgeous women with necks that are wrinkled, creepy and sagging.

As I settled into my late forties, I started to notice dramatic aging and thinning of the skin on my neck.

For many of those years, I would just take my face moisturizer and put it on my neck, intermittingly. But it just didn’t feel good to have a creamy product on my neck.

I asked my husband, dermatologist Dr. Dennis Gross, if my facial moisturizer was going to work on my neck? He said no because the skin on your neck is very different.

Together, Dennis and I worked on developing a product that I could use for my own neck. I didn’t want to settle for anything that wouldn’t get results I could see in my mirror!

We call it an ‘emulsion’, which is a hybrid of a serum and a moisturizer. The texture is very silky, it is still hydrating but is absorbs quickly into the skin of the neck.

Stop the ‘Neck Neglect’! Every time you apply your skincare products to your face you must include your neck into your daily regimen.

Here’s why:

The skin on your neck is among the thinnest and most vulnerable anywhere on the body (eye skin ranks #1). This means it’s more prone to damage from the sun’s rays and from daily tugging—which can pull the skin down and, after a while, keep it that way.

The Neck Emulsion contains these key fortifying ingredients:

Lactic Acid:

This is the same powerful alpha hydroxy acid used in our iconic Alpha Beta Peel, but specially formulated for the delicate neck skin. It exfoliates and helps stimulate the production of skin-firming collagen.

Collagen is Queen, I like to say. Without it, our skin is more prone to lines and wrinkles and sagging. With it, we simply regenerate skin to look and feel more youthful.

Ferulic Acid:

This plant-based antioxidant is the same one found in our super-effective Ferulic + Retinol line of products. It prevents damage to the skin and to DNA, it also helps deliver the other powerful ingredients below the skin’s surface.

I love retinol; it’s a potent anti-aging ingredient that smoothens lines and wrinkles, while increasing moisture and elasticity. Retinol gets results (why I use it twice daily, no exceptions).

Hyaluronic Acid:

This is simply the best hydrator around; it’s lightweight enough to be absorbed quickly without any greasy after-feel.

You can turn back time when it comes to your neck—and prevent future damage. Start using the Neck Emulsion product twice daily (apply in an upward motion) and I guarantee you’ll see change.

Stay gorgeous and say ‘no’ to neck neglect!

Carrie Gross

Test, Test, Test!

Valentine’s Day.  That special day that says the beginning of ‘glo season’ is on the horizon.  And as soon as soon as I finish this post I am off to see Claudia for my air brush tan!  This month’s special color is .. what else?  Caramel, which goes so well with chocolate does it not?

Last week’s post has garnered some comments that I am really excited to address.  The first comment – why are there so many eye treatments in the Perricone line – it’s so confusing?  If you go to the Perricone MD site you will see that there are eight (8) choices for various eye conditions available.  That’s why I suggested getting samples from a Beauty Advisor when in need of a suggestion before you buy the product because all of these are in the mid-range price points.  You don’t want to buy all eight to test, right? Just get a few samples to test and then you will know which one works best for you.

Another example is the La Prairie line where there are 13 eye cream/serum choices in a wide range when it comes to the purchase points.  Is there a difference between a $380 serum and a $120?  Of course there is!  But! Is the difference worth the price for you?  It all depends on what you are looking for in the products, and how much you want to spent on your products. Again, test the products before you purchase.

A few month’s ago, I received a generous sample of La Prairie’s Liquid Lift for my neck.  It retails for over $500.  I was saddened when my sample was gone (and trust me I used every drop!) because I knew I could not afford that product in my daily skincare routine.  Again, I was going to test a couple of products.  Then within a week, I met Carrie Gross, wife of Dr. Dennis Gross, at a Master Class at Nordstrom.  She introduced me to his new neck cream with samples, and it has become one of my favorite products.   I mention Carrie, because she has agreed to be a guest writer on Wrinkle Me Not from time to time and she will be sharing more about this marvelous neck cream on next week’s blog post.  I am beyond thrilled to have her with us!
