Highlight Your Glow

If you have been reading Wrinkle Me Not for a year or more you KNOW how I love the ‘glow’ year round, but especially once the season changes from winter to spring.  If you are in the northeast reading this blog you probably think I am crazy.  I truly apologize.  I know the weather over the last month or two has been cold, snowy and just plain dreadful.  But, here in Texas today, we are going to top 88 degrees.  You see, we don’t go from winter to spring here – we jump right into summer!  Last weekend we still had the heater on at night, but today its a/c and plenty of it.  The golf courses are busy and so are the plant centers.  I have worked all morning on planting flowers and cleaning up the beds.  But I regress…

Yes, I love the glow!  I was at Nordstrom yesterday during Triple Poin weekend picking up my Glow pads from DDG Skincare, but also got some beautiful highlighters  – one in a compact by Anastasia and one by Hourglass, which is a cream.

Vanish Flash by Hourglass is a highlight stick.  It goes on creamy so you can spread it on your cheeks, forehead and nose.  It comes in 5 shades – Champagne, Pink, Gold, Rose Gold and Bronze.  I picked up Champagne and Pink!

And! I also got the Amrezy Highlighter from Anastasia which I must sayI love, my friends. The limited edition highlighter is an illuminating powder that achieves the perfect glow. With the feel of second-skin, this ultra-smooth formula delivers a radiant finish and reflects a light, brilliant gold.

But let me say this.  If you have dry skin the cream is great and its staying powder is the best.  I think once summer gets here (and that may be tomorrow here) and it’s in the 90’s to 100, I will probably skip the cream highlighter and go with the staying power of the powder.  Though I must say I love the versatility of both products.

Of course, you still need to add the glow factor! Always Girls!

I See The Light – On Me!

So last Monday I had to go to one of those big box electronic stores for my husband.  The color laser printer we had purchased on Saturday was on sale for $100 off retail,  so I was more than happy to make the stop.  I figured if I did the return, that would give “me” the $100 and I can always use that for skin care or makeup … that’s fair, right?

The representative at Customer Service could not have been nicer.  She agreed that the $100 should go to me, which made her my bff for the day!  You know how we need those people in our lives, especially on Monday mornings.  I told her I was going to use the money toward some skincare or makeup and she stopped and looked at me… “you wear makeup?” she asked.  “Your skin is fabulous.”  Oh, my! Perhaps she should be my bff for the entire day???   Or, perhaps the week?  No kidding!  She asked me to give her my top 3 favorite products so she could tell her mom about them… and then mentioned her grandmother. as well.  Hmmmm well, maybe bff for the week was a stretch.  But she did make me laugh!

On this day I had actually used my Armani foundation topped with my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder.  I am not big on powder on my foundation on a daily basis because at times it looks too heavy, but this look is a winner if you are an everyday or occasional finishing powder fan.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder is a groundbreaking collection of finishing powders that capture, diffuse, and soften the way light reflects on your skin. The powders deliver a multidimensional luminescence to every skin tone, making it appear softer and younger.  I use Luminous Light, which is a champagne pearl powder that creates a soft, incandescent candlelit glow—day or night, but there are five other shades available – and they are all beautiful.

• ETHEREAL LIGHT: An opalescent sheer, cool white powder that mimics a moonlit glow—even in broad daylight.
• DIFFUSED LIGHT: A soft, warm, pale yellow powder that conceals redness and gives skin clarity—like a soft ray of morning light.
• DIM LIGHT: A neutral peach beige powder that blurs imperfections and highlights a radiant complexion with the perfect balance of warm and cool tones.
• MOOD LIGHT: A soft, sheer lavender pink powder that mimics the softest, most forgiving light and brightens the complexion.
• RADIANT LIGHT: A sun-kissed golden beige that enhances overall complexion with believable, subtle warmth, and also extends a summer glow.

Don’t  want full coverage?  Go for it alone.  This powder is really very light.  Generally I like to apply it on specific areas of my face like the top of my cheekbones, my forehead or the bridge of my nose, as a highlighting powder rather than a finishing powder. What I really love about this powder is its smooth, non-flyaway texture and it glides over your skin for an even application.

So, light up someone’s world this week and I bet yours will be filled with smiles.

Beauty Behind the Veil

One Christmas gift I received was $200 at Sephora and it had been burning a hole in my new purse since I received it.  So as soon as I could, I visited with a makeup artist in the store saying with a big smile, “Show Me, Tell Me, Sample me.”  Sephora has that ‘candy store effect’ on me.  I want to sample everything. And! on that day I was lucky and met Anallely.  Not only was she very helpful and spouted so much knowledge of products, she did in indeed, believe in providing samples!

As many of you know I am a big fan of Dior’s Capture Totale Dreamskin.  This is an age-defying perfect skin creator that refines skin texture, evens skin tone, and diminishes the appearance of wrinkles, as it increases radiance. I love the look it creates on my skin. So I was delighted to find another perfect skin creator by Hourglass, one of my favorite cosmetic companies.  Hourglass Veil Primer is a SPF 15 mineral-based, water-resistant primer and one of the best foundation primers I have used to date. It truly keeps any shine from forming on my skin throughout the entire day. I love the silky feel of this primer, too.  It creates a smooth, uniform canvas for flawless makeup application and the satin-finish formula helps keep my makeup looking fresh and prevents fading.

Remember a little goes a long way when it comes to application. Just place 1/2 to 1 pump of Veil Mineral Powder to clean, moisturized skin prior to concealer, foundation and powder application. It works with any cream, liquid or powder foundation.  I apply it on top of my Dreamskin, too, for a “perfect finished look” that lasts throughout the day.

Call Me Picasso

My baby doll at age six can walk up to an easel and with the stroke of brush create a masterpiece using the talent and knowledge she has amassed in her two years of private art classes.  I, on the other hand, can only paint a wall or a door, but nothing that can be hung for show. Till now.

Thanks to the Hourglass Eyeshadow Palette I have learned to paint – my eyes!

Hourglass Cosmetics, one of the newest beauty spots at Nordstrom and Sephora, has carved a niche for itself as an innovative premiere beauty brand.  Their luxury products are infused with the most groundbreaking active ingredients available to create unbelievably surreal skin and more like amazing eyes!

My choice introduction product for my “canvas” was the Modernist Eyeshadow Palette (see pic) which is an actual artist-inspired eye shadow palette with seamless color transitions offering effortless blending in a single compact.  These palettes flaunt five complementary shades of soft and airy, finely-milled formulas in a fabulous array of shades, finish, and texture. And! Each palette features a selection of finishes from matte to shimmer for any number of looks with depth and dimension. My palette purchase was “Infinity” and as you can see in the picture below, it offers an array of beautiful colors.  Depending on where I am going I can apply the shadows light and dry and then transition to the darker colors.  Or, wet my brush to intensify the colors for a dramatic look for evening.  Since these colors are ‘painted on’ they last all day, too!  No primer needed.

Hourglass offers the best selection of shadows I’ve ever used. The colors are gorgeous and go on smoothly and best of all – there is no fallout!! Use them as individual colors or take on the role of ‘artist’ and mix two or three for a new color choice for the day.

No, we can’t all be a Picasso, Monet, or even a  da Vinci, but we can create some beautiful eyes – our eyes – on our own ‘canvas’.
