Slow Down and Breathe In The Spirit Of The Season

Whether you are Celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, or something close to your heart, this is the time to relax in between shopping trips and spend time with your friends and family. I am talking to myself right now, too by the way.   My birthday always falls on Thanksgiving week so from that day through New Years I usually have about 3 free days and I mean totally – free.  This year is no exception, but I did add something new to my routine and it has been such a special addition to my life.

After dinner each evening regardless of the time, I give myself a facial and for the next 10 to 25 minutes recite my thanks for the day.  Most days I find it’s time to remove my cleanser and I am still saying sayings ‘thank yous’.  It’s relaxing, meaningful, and renews my spirit and my skin at the same time!

Last night was no exception and was actually much needed.  We went to dinner with dear sweet longtime friends and celebrated our friendship at The Star.  The Star is the 91-acre campus that hosts the world headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys.  We have been watching Cowboy football cames together for years and it was fun, exciting, and my skin was ravaged by the cold winds since the festivities all took place outside.

Once we got home I got into my jammies and began began the process of restoration of my skin cells.  Winter temps and conditions are the worst for our skin.  So after cleansing I made sure to add a little more serum around my eyes and cheecks and extra moisurizer too.  There are so many beauty specials out there for the holidays I have stocked up so I know I will have plenty of items for the months ahead.

I am really liking the The Firm line from Dr. Perricone right now.  From their Eyes to their face to the neck serums, I love it all and I see quick results.  My ‘go to’ is always Dr. Dennis Gross so I just use one product line at night and one in the morning and switch the times around so I don’t mix the products on my face.  I love what I am seeing in the mirror!

So take a moment to soon to breathe… and count your blessings instead of sheep….

Test, Test, Test!

Valentine’s Day.  That special day that says the beginning of ‘glo season’ is on the horizon.  And as soon as soon as I finish this post I am off to see Claudia for my air brush tan!  This month’s special color is .. what else?  Caramel, which goes so well with chocolate does it not?

Last week’s post has garnered some comments that I am really excited to address.  The first comment – why are there so many eye treatments in the Perricone line – it’s so confusing?  If you go to the Perricone MD site you will see that there are eight (8) choices for various eye conditions available.  That’s why I suggested getting samples from a Beauty Advisor when in need of a suggestion before you buy the product because all of these are in the mid-range price points.  You don’t want to buy all eight to test, right? Just get a few samples to test and then you will know which one works best for you.

Another example is the La Prairie line where there are 13 eye cream/serum choices in a wide range when it comes to the purchase points.  Is there a difference between a $380 serum and a $120?  Of course there is!  But! Is the difference worth the price for you?  It all depends on what you are looking for in the products, and how much you want to spent on your products. Again, test the products before you purchase.

A few month’s ago, I received a generous sample of La Prairie’s Liquid Lift for my neck.  It retails for over $500.  I was saddened when my sample was gone (and trust me I used every drop!) because I knew I could not afford that product in my daily skincare routine.  Again, I was going to test a couple of products.  Then within a week, I met Carrie Gross, wife of Dr. Dennis Gross, at a Master Class at Nordstrom.  She introduced me to his new neck cream with samples, and it has become one of my favorite products.   I mention Carrie, because she has agreed to be a guest writer on Wrinkle Me Not from time to time and she will be sharing more about this marvelous neck cream on next week’s blog post.  I am beyond thrilled to have her with us!

Enjoy Valentines Day with someone you love…

I Wanna Touchdown

Super Bowl Sunday is on the horizon and like many of you,  I will have a room filled with friends, family and food.  And, during the game I will hear several Monday Morning Quarterbacks saying “I think, I want, or I believe”… lots of “eyes” in there huh?

I am so into eyes these days. I have been testing several different eye serums over the last month and I must say, there are two that work well  for my eyes, but then again the other three are all fabulous too.

Everyone has an idea of what they want to see in their eye serums. Some need the hydration, while others want the firming and others want brightening and to get rid of those dark circles and bags. Here are several serums I have used and my comments regarding on each one.  All were applied in the morning and at night and the application was done by patting the serum all around the eye.

La Prairie Essence of Skin Caviar Eye Complex.  This instant firming eye gel is lightweight, firms, nourishes and improves tone and texture. The delicate skin around our eyes is hydrated and brightened as signs of stress and fatigue fade away and imperfections are erased. Works well for me.  Medium price points.

Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Eye Serum brings dull and tired-looking eyes to life by brightening, firming, and restoring delicate skin. This is a lightweight, non-greasy formula which absorbs easily into the skin to deliver stunning results. It promotes collagen production to boost elasticity and prepares skin to make the most of additional skincare steps. This is one I will never be without! Again, medium price points.

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum eye treatment firms, brightens, and fights the appearance of wrinkles and is gentle enough for use on the eyelids. This serum targets three aging complaints: wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles and will diminish the look of creepiness in the eyelid. This one keeps my eyelids so smooth and I use it though out the day to refresh my look. Very good price points.

Bioline PHYTO STAMINAL + Caviar & Retinol Beauty Enhancer Concentrate Serum is a little different from most of the other eye serums.  It can be used on fragile and delicate areas such as the eye and lip contour and the neck.  After it’s applied, it favors the relaxation of the sections as it improves firmness and elasticity of the skin, emphasizing the natural beauty around the eyes and lips. I love this one!  Medium price points.

Now my good friend and shopping buddy, Karen, is currently using Vital C Hydrating Anti-aging Serum/Hydrating Serum by Image Skincare.  She says ‘it hydrates my skin, and it feels dewy all day, which I like.  My skin seems to be radiant, and the tone looks more even.  I feel like I’m putting vitamins on my skin and I actually think I can go without makeup when I use it and I have a healthy glow.’ Good price points.

With so many product choices for our eyes the best way to see what works best for you is to just try a few.  Ask a beauty advisor for some samples and then use one and only one for a few days each.  I will say that I usually use two because I see the effect I am looking for with the combination.  Plus! As I mentioned, I refresh with another one mid day because that works best for me!
