I Am Not The Lone Ranger

When I was a little girl I loved to play dress up and do some role playing.  As I got into my young teenage years my sister, Jill, would join me with hairbrush in hand like we were on stage singing with a rock band.  We still laugh about that occasionally over our weekly coffees.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited

to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world,

and all there ever will be to know and understand.” Albert Einstein

When children participate in role playing, they naturally become someone or something else. role playing stimulates their imagination and “enhances their social development, by encouraging friendship through mutual cooperation, listening and turn taking”. Therefore, role play is a really vital activity for our children.

I was thinking about this recently since I have added a sleep mask to my bedtime routine.  Do I think I am the Lone Ranger? I would emphatically say ‘no’ to that question.  And, so far, I have not dreamed of riding my horse alongside him or Tonto either. But! there is always tomorrow night!

My mask is actually a copper-infused sleep mask that covers eyes with advanced care to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as you sleep Iluminage.

This sleep mask covers your delicate eyes during sleeping hours with advanced care to minimize the appearance of wrinkles. Beyond blocking all visual stimuli to quiet your mind and senses, this silky, soft, smart textile is carefully embedded with copper oxide technology, derived from a well-known essential mineral. This technology is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles for smoother, younger-looking skin. Placing it on your eye area following your night time treatment routines is also a key.

I must say I absolutely love this mask. It’s so soft and silky that it really does help me fall asleep sooner. I do not know if the copper actually assists with anti aging, but I do know as far as sleep goes, this mask is great!

Instant Confidence – Yes!

I have been in marketing and public relations for half of my life. The way in which a product is marketed can lead to success or failure.  I mean if the product is amazing but is ‘called’  Good Product who wants it.  That’s why I thought long and hard before I named my blog site Wrinkle Me Not.  It’s about good skincare, a little bit about makeup and a touch on hair care that is good for us.

So, when Bobbie Brown introduced her newest product at Trend Show last weekend – the Instant Confidence Stick, it raised eyebrows.  Including mine. As Karen and I were getting our makeup done with Meredith Meyers with Guerlain we told her about it.  She went over to Bobbie Brown and got a sample to use on our face.  As she applied it, she kept nodding her head ‘yes’ and we waited for results.  It doesn’t take long. Every line she glided across disappeared!

Think of this stick as a magic eraser.  It instantly blurs the look of fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother, more lineless look. It glides on easily and feels weightless, making it comfortable for all-day wear. Use it to prep skin for seamless makeup application, or to touch up and control shine throughout the day. I just swipe this stick over my fine lines and wrinkles before I apply my makeup and use it throughout the day as it’s needed to smooth, mattify and absorb oil.

Karen and I both loved what this product did for our skin and purchased a tube.  I told another friend about it but it was sold out when she tried to get it.  I did check Bobbie’s site before I posted this and it states that they have this product back in stock, so it is once again available.

Do I have instant confidence?  Yes!  So I guess this name works for this product!

My Kind of Playground

I love being outdoors whether it’s watching sports, walking or gardening, but when it comes to indoor play time there is nothing better for this beauty blogger than a visit to my favorite playground -Nordstrom’s North Park Cosmetics, especially on a Saturday.  I’ve been going to North Park in Dallas since I was a child and I love the duck & turtle pond, restaurants and of course, shopping! But when it comes to product playtime I head to Nordstrom.  Last Saturday I met with Enrique Ortega, Southwest Account Rep for Dr. Dennis Gross (dgskincare.com) for a facial and product info session.  As you know from previous posts I use many of his products.  Not only do I get an amazing facial, my visit with him renews my product knowledge and I hear about any new products that are on the horizon.

Facial/Tutor time commences.  Enrique cleansed my face using All In One Cleansing Foam. (I love this cleanser and have used it for years, because it’s quick, easy and removes my makeup as well.)  He then applied a much stronger version of the Alpha Beta Peel (2-step) similar to the pads I have mentioned in a previous post.  This gets very hot and tingly, so I know it’s working its magic! Next, he applied the Glow Pad which I love, and then he used the Alpha Beta Daily Glow Moisture lotion to reinforce the overall “wow” factor to my face, neck and décolleté. By the way, this is a new formula, so if you have tried it in the past and held your nose, do try it again.  This is truly a 180 on fragrance and delightful, unlike the previous version.  He followed with applications of Ferulic and Retinol Face and Eye serums. These serums have lightened or erased the brown spots on my face and hydrated and firmed my eye area.  Enrique reminded me that these serums are absorbed by our skin immediately, so there is no ‘dry’ time before applying our cosmetics. Another reminder: press, press, press always on your serums, so they get deep into your skin. He followed with moisturizer for my face and eye which included Hydra-Pure Firming Serum for my face and another longtime favorite – Firming Eye Cream.  It hydrates and firms my eye area with a cooling effect.  I am now ‘skin ready’ for my next stop – the YSL counter with their Beauty Advisor, Angelina.  It’s time for makeup before brunch with my girls!

Don’t be shy when it comes to giving a Beauty Advisor and opportunity to do your makeup in front of a hundred or so people.  Honestly!  First of all, these people are product savvy in their line and will share beauty tips during application.  There’s an added bonus, too – you can try the latest products!  Really so many people are shopping on a Saturday no one is watching you.  And!  When you are done… you look fabulous and you’re ready for brunch or a night on the town, with a few samples or new purchases in your bag!

Special note: On that trip I picked up nine samples of products to try and I will be sharing my thoughts and experiences with you in the weeks ahead. But! In typical Texas fashion we reached a high of 82 degrees yesterday, dropping to 18 tonight and it’s snowing right now.  That means my playground will be indoors in front of a warm fire for a few days until we reach 70 by week’s end. But!  I have new product samples to play with so this product diva will be just cozy and fine in her home playground!

Opening my bag….

Well, here it is… finally.  My first attempt at a skin care blog for those of us that are AARP members! I’ve wanted to do this blog for several months, but how to set it up was my biggest obstacle.  I think I’ve got the basics in place now, and I’m excited to share the contents of my beauty bag with you.  I’ve got a little bit of everything in here from skin and hair care products to makeup and more!  So here we go….

My favorite all time product for several years now has been Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Extra Strength Alpha Beta® Peel Pads. Yes, they do come in regular strength, as well.  If you have sensitive skin I would recommend trying the regular strength first and perhaps graduating up to extra strength after a few months. It’s a two-step process system.  The first pad will make your face tingle as you go over it.  Use the whole pad.  Usually I go over my face, neck and décolleté 2-3 times before I toss the pad.  I wait about 2 minutes and then do the same process with the Step 2 pad.  You will feel a slight tightening of your skin and your skin will glow with continued use.  As I mentioned I have used these pads for several years and for a product junkie, this one tops my list.  I purchase my pads at Nordstrom in North Park in Dallas. (If you have any questions while there ask Mona or Yulia (DDG Specialists) and tell them you read about the pads here.)  If you do not have a Nordstrom in your area, I have seen them at Sephora, as well.  They are also available on Amazon or some of the other skincare sites.  Just be sure you get current packaging so you know you are getting fresh product.
