Flawless.  I see many comments when one changes their Facebook profile photo such as this.  I actually saw it on mine recently.  My reply to my friend was ‘don’t zoom!’  It wasn’t a flawless picture for sure, but I will say it took more time to create the ‘look’ than I spend most days.

My little sister, Jill, and I were talking and watching Hoda and Kathie Lee one morning recently. Their skin looked flawless and I commented we can do that if we take the time!  To prove my point I got all of my ‘flawless making’ products out and spread them out on my countertop.  Do I use all of these every day?  Heaven’s no!  I don’t have the time!  But watching Kathie Lee (It was her birthday, so of course for extra measure she appeared flawless!)

To be flawless you must first have great skincare that you use every day. And! I mean every day! That in itself will get you on the road to flawless.   After you have applied all of you skincare add your primer to your entire face and then touch up those spots that need a little bit more smoothing.  Don’t worry – we all have them!  I found a great video from Sephora on an email that will get you going in the direction to flawless.  From there you can see many of them on Youtube and if you want to be entertained as well, check out Monique Parent.  She is not only fun to watch, but she has some great tips as you watch her go from fresh face to flawless.

But!  In saying all of this, you will need some clock time.  Most of these videos are about 25 minutes and you should expect to spend at least that amount of time as well.  But!  I must add for a special occasion – do it! Then quickly grab a camera, because if you are like me flawless is fun to do, but not on a work morning! Let me know what you think and send me your pics!

Fall Trend Show 2016

Fall Trend Show 2016 is in the books as they say and what fun Karen and I had all day on Saturday.  And when I say ALL DAY – I mean it!  Starting at 7:30AM we joined 500 other beauty divas for a Runway Show at Nordstrom North Park that just gets better and better each year.  Now I must say, gone are the pastries and treats for breakfast as in year’s past when you arrive.  The crowd is so much larger these days, so we are given boxed morning treats with water and coffee to keep us going and going as we shop, shop, shop.

After a two-hour informative program which featured reps from some of the world’s favorite beauty products, we were dismissed to the store for sessions and shopping. Arriving there there are rows and rows of makeup chairs lined up and within moments filled with show attendees that would go on throughout the day.

Karen and I visited with John and Enrique at Dr. Dennis Gross for a chemical peel and facial.  Got some amazing products there I will blog about soon.  After that session which lasted about an hour, we went on to Guerlain where Meredith used her magical brushes as she provided a makeover for both of us.  I mean really, two friends sans makeup can only have real fun at a make-up counter, right? After that session Karen went to Dry Bar for her new hairstyle and I met Veronica with Anastasia for my brows.  Samples! OMGoodness.    They were everywhere!  I have so much to share with you over the fall season.  I don’t have enough room to write all of it here.

But!  If you are out shopping this week I want share with you this:  THE color this season is Maroon/Wine. So grab something in that color to update your fall wardrobe. Today!

Oh! And best photo from the show?  Look at these amazing shoes! Yes, this spokesperson had it all… the season’s color, great hair and makeup AND THOSE shoes!

Skincare With a Glass of Vino

Having just returned from another annual trip to Napa Valley – the world of wine and wine baths or vinotheraphy – I must say, I would rather enjoy a lavender bubble bath with a beautiful Pinot Noir and spend my $100 on skincare products.  Anyone who knows me will tell you I am passionate about skincare and I would have said the same goes for wine and the study of it. But, on this trip I learned that there are those who know that wine offers benefits, and not just from drinking it. Vinotherapy or bathing with red wine is reputed to soften skin, boost circulation and treat cellulite. Wine contains tartaric acid, an alpha hydroxyl agent, which helps to exfoliate the skin, however, the effects are not instant and it takes a number of bottles to get that effect. There are various methods of vinotherapy, i.e. applying wine externally as skin care treatments includes wraps, massages and facials.   Say what you will about the Knicks’ Amar’e Stoudemire who bathes in wine… but he does understand the benefits and of course has the income to enjoy wine in a glass and in tub filled with it!

I am a huge fan of Dr. Dennis Gross skincare products.  He provides some of the best skincare out there and for me my day starts with his All in One Facial Cleanser. This cleaner takes all the makeup off my face (including waterproof mascara), it leaves my skin flawless, my pores reduced and it is just the perfect one step face wash. This wash is very gentle as well potent. Also, it leaves no residue and my skin feels soft, and bright.

Hypoallergenic for even the most sensitive skin types, this soothing formula is for anyone seeking a daily toning cleanser that removes impurities while leaving skin soft, hydrated, clean, and soothed but never dry. It keeps my pores clean and unclogged, and it is perfect for contact lens wearers.  I use it with my Clarisonic as well.  If you have sensitive skin you might want to wash with it first and then go over your face with your Clarisonic to give it a quick finish.

Special note… for those of you that prefer a foam cleanser, Dr. Gross also offers this cleanser in foam as well, without the toner/makeup remover strength.  For me, both work equally as well.  Your face will feel clean, refreshed and somewhat firmer after use.

So pour your favorite vino into a glass and toast your fabulous skin and yourself  for all you do to keep it healthy and glowing. Then leave the wine bath to someone who has the income to indulge in it – daily!

Butter Up Yourself!

Every so often I get a sample of a product that makes me want to stop all posting plans … and share it…like today!

This little jewel was dropped in my Sephora bag last week during my checkout along with a few others. Labeled body butter I tossed it in a basket next to my tub to try after a future bubble bath. A couple of nights later I was sitting on the side of my tub and decided to open this simple white package filled with Sephora’s own brand of Super Supreme Body Butter. It was an OMG moment for me as I did everything I could to get more and more out of the little packet – even resorted to cutting it open on all sides to get every last drop.

This luxuriously thick cream does not feel greasy on application and was quickly absorbed on my skin. Sephora has a line of products that contain a high concentration of HydroSenn+, a natural ingredient proven to deliver immediate and long-lasting hydration more effectively than hyaluronic acid and this is one of them. It also contains illipe butter, which I goggled for more info since it was a new type of butter for me.  Illipe butter is made from the illipe tree (I’ve never heard of that either!) which is found in Malaysia and is considered one of the riches of all butters in the world.  Illipe butter nourishes the skin and it is rumored to help restore its elasticity. Sounds like we need to plant one of these trees in our own yard, doesn’t it?

As much as I loved the scent – it was like aromatherapy for me – I know there are some of you that have an aversion to different smells.  So, I would suggest visiting a Sephora store to take a whiff before you purchase it.  I opened the jar in my guest bath on Easter for my girls to try and they, too, loved the product and the fragrance (which does subside quickly, I might add).  It is sold in a LARGE tub so it will last for awhile.  If you are visiting the Sephora store in North Park Dallas, ask for James.  He is one of their friendly beauty advisors and he will prepare a sample for you to take home for use after your next bath or shower.  Now is the time to start shedding the rest of that winter skin – haven’t we been doing that since January? … and get ready for summer.  This is the body butter that will do it! And!  I must tell you… the next morning after that first trial of this butter, my skin was still silky and soft – even my feet.  So before you bat those eyes and ask for that favor… butter yourself up first.  You deserve it!
